Can Essential Oils Impact our Emotional Wellness?

Let’s talk a little about Emotional Wellness.


We are living in very stressful times.
In the short term, stress can manifest physically as headaches, anxiety, overwhelm, digestive issues, difficulty with focus and sleep, depression & increased blood pressure.
But over time, chronic stress disrupts nearly every system in our body. It can suppress our immune system, upset our digestive and reproductive systems, and increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.
I think we all know that the long-term effects of stress can be really quite detrimental to our overall health and well-being.


The good news is that pure therapeutic grade essential oils are extremely powerful for reducing feelings of stress and anxiety due to their effect on the limbic system of the brain and their calming effect on the nervous system.

But how is this possible?
If you pinched your fingers right above the bridge of their nose - right under your fingers is your olfactory nerve. This nerve sends messages to the limbic system in your brain, which then sends messages all over the body.
Sometimes people don’t think it’s possible that oils could affect the whole body just by smelling them, but let me give you an example:
When you go to the hospital for surgery and need to be put under, how do they deliver the anesthesia?
Usually, they ask you to breathe through a mask and count down to 10.

So, when you breathe those synthetic compounds through the mask, your olfactory system is powerful enough to send signals to your body to knock you out in under 10 seconds! It’s the fastest way to access the brain.

This happens exactly the same way with natural compounds found in essential oils. When we breathe them in, they hit our olfactory nerve and send signals to the limbic system which sends signals to the rest of our body. So, inhaling essential oils is the quickest way to positively affect your mood, which can help lower your stress levels, reduce sad and anxious feelings, calm emotions, support more restful sleep.
